There are multiple variables involved in the timeline for construction which include size of the home, finish out of the home, time of year, and the weather. Generally speaking a 2500-5000 square foot custom home takes about 4-6 months depending on the variables listed. Homes above 5000 feet usually take another month per additional 1000 feet up to 10,000 feet. The larger the home, the higher the finish out, and the wetter and colder it is the longer the construction process takes.
What if we have already purchased land or are not sure of the lot that we would like to purchase?
Give us a call and we will schedule a time to meet and look at the property to determine any special needs or allowances (excess dirt work, retaining wall, tree removal, etc.) that need to be addressed prior to contract. If you are contemplating a certain lot or tract of land and would like our input before you purchase in order to circumvent any surprises we will be happy to look at it for you.
What is the process in getting started?
The first step is to identify the land and house plan you would like to build. We will meet, go over the concept plan, your wish list, and identify any special needs or concerns over architectural plans, construction or mortgage finance arrangements and amenities. We usually meet two to three times (or as many as necessary ) to get your plans finalized. Once the plans are finalized we will need three weeks to submit our bid. We will then meet again to go over the bid and any additions or deletions can be made prior to signing the contract. When the house is to your specifications and budget a contract will need to be signed and a soils test will be ordered on your land and then the foundation is submitted for engineering. When that is done, plans are submitted for permits and then construction begins on your new home when the permitting authority has approved them.
Can we supply our own floor plans?
Absolutely. If you already have floor plans, please contact us immediately to initiate our bid on your new home.
Can we supply items that are unique to us for installation in our new home?
Yes. It is your home and we will do everything we can to make it unique to you.
Do you provide a warranty?
A 1/10 year warranty is offered. However, many of the manufacturers of the products that go into your home offer their own extended warranty. We are always a phone call away and will always respond promptly to help you resolve the issue.
Do you always use the same subcontractors?
We like to, because they know the standard of quality of work that we expect of them. However; we are not opposed to your recommendations.
What if I want to do some of the work myself?
If you have talent in an area that can save you money, and as long as the work can be finished within the time constraints that you will want to move in to your new home, we will allow it.
